geekbench Processor and memory performance

This processor and the latest version of Android gives a level of performance that feels quite incredible for an Android device.

passmark Processor performance including multiple cores

That quad core S4 Pro CPU was hot stuff in the fourth quarter of 2012, but in Q2 of 2013, the world has already moved on to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 that's clocked a bit higher and benchmarks even faster.

Granted, we could live without some of that software, including the TouchWiz UI itself, but the pen software is top notch, Samsung's Multi Window split window multitasking is the best in the business and there are several enjoyable creature comforts like Air View.

The Z Ultra towers above all those phablets not only in screen size, but in specs and design, too, so if you've thrown out ergonomics and pocketability with the decision to get one anyway, you might as well do the full song and dance.

We feared battery life might not be up to much thanks to the full HD, 5.7-inch display which adorns the front of the Note 3, but we were pleasantly surprised.
