Reviews Word on the street for the HTC Desire V

7.0
The screen delivers pretty colors, has decent viewing angles, and its outdoor visibility is sufficient for comfortable use.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Screen

The HTC Desire V packs a 4" LCD display of WVGA resolution (480x800), which is more, in terms of both size and resolution, than you get with the Desire C. The image quality is average at best, but quite decent for the class - the viewing angles are OK, but sunlight legibility could've been better.
by GSM Arena (Oct, 2012)
Below the screen is the usual layout of Back, Home and Task Switcher capacitive keys.
by GSM Arena (Oct, 2012)
The HTC Desire V supports multi-touch and you can take full advantage of it while browsing your images.
by GSM Arena (Oct, 2012)

Video

It has a slightly smaller screen, but a speedier dual-core processor and its camera can take 720p video.
by PhoneArena (Aug, 2012)
Lighter web sites are relatively easy to browse and navigate, unless you have embedded video playing.
by PhoneArena (Aug, 2012)
With the stock video player you can watch videos in MP4 or DivX formats, but only of resolution up to 800 by 480 pixels.
by PhoneArena (Aug, 2012)

Ports

That's really great and all, but you should know how these two cellular connections are being handled.
by PhoneArena (Aug, 2012)
After our usual telephony testing, the HTC Desire V had no problems with reception and the in-call audio was clear and satisfyingly loud.
by GSM Arena (Oct, 2012)
The HTC Desire V did decently well in our audio quality test.
by GSM Arena (Oct, 2012)

Camera

Overall, this is certainly not the best 5MP camera we've seen, but in this price range you can't expect much more.
by GSM Arena (Oct, 2012)
Camera: What's really cool about the 5MP camera on the HTC Desire V is that it has the same versatile, easy-to-use interface that is present on any HTC One handset.
by PhoneArena (Aug, 2012)
What's far less exciting, however, is that although the camera is mostly free of shutter lag, it takes well over a second before it is ready to capture the next frame.
by PhoneArena (Aug, 2012)

Cpu

Judging by how extensively re-written and optimized the code behind the new Android 4.0 build is, we expect the 1GHz processor to perform better in our web browsing benchmarks than its Gingerbread counterparts, but we didn't really expect it to break any records.
by GSM Arena (Oct, 2012)
This time around, however, we aren't dealing with a powerful Cortex-A9 processor under the hood, but rather a mere 1GHz low-power Cortex-A5, and we're curious to see what HTC has held back from a software standpoint in order to keep performance up.
by GSM Arena (Oct, 2012)
Processor and memory: The HTC Desire V is powered by a 1GHz single-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM, and to our disappointment, its performance is not what we'd classify as smooth.
