Throw in its outstanding viewing angles as well, it firmly tells us this is one high quality display – save for the resolution, of course.

The rear 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and a fast f/2.0 lens is very good.

Reviews Word on the street for the Amazon Fire Phone

The Snapdragon 800 is a pretty efficient CPU, and the 4.7", 720p display shouldn't be a big power hog, but the phone has just passable battery life.

The resolution is rather underwhelming in light of other phones, but it’s a high quality display for sure with its accurate color reproduction, potent brightness, and exceptional viewing angles.

6.8 Out of 10

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Amazon clearly didn’t go with a low quality display here, evidenced by its impressive color temperature of 6958 K, which is pretty close to the reference of 6500K.
by PhoneArena (Jul, 2014)
Going back to the display itself, which is a moderately sized 4.7-inch 720 x 1280 IPS LCD display, there’s no arguing that its resolution is not in the same boat as other phones in its price category.
by PhoneArena (Jul, 2014)
You should be able to get a workday's worth of life out of it, assuming the display isn't constantly running and tracking your face.

The other salient feature, Firefly, uses the 13 megapixel rear camera to scan stuff... generally so you can buy that stuff from Amazon.
by MobileTechReview (Jul, 2014)
At first glance, Firefly’s interface is easily mistaken for any ordinary camera app, as the screen is dominated by a viewfinder.
by PhoneArena (Jul, 2014)
Aside from the normal camera and video modes, it offers lenticular and panorama shots, but that's the bulk of it.
by Android Police (Aug, 2014)

It gets plenty loud which is good for tones and notifications, watching videos, or playing games.
by Android Police (Aug, 2014)
Amazon's solution breaks down used space by several categories, including games, apps, system apps, videos, music, photos, books, docs, and several others.
by Android Police (Aug, 2014)
Swiping up on the dock reveals the app tray, which offers quick access to installed apps as well as cloud apps that are already found in your catalog (for quick installation).
by Android Police (Aug, 2014)

Apps run smoothly and since the screen is 720p rather than 1080p, games aren't as likely to tax the phone.
by MobileTechReview (Jul, 2014)
For all its uses, the display is pretty good, and nothing really feels "missing" considering it's a 720p panel instead of 1080p.
by Android Police (Aug, 2014)
Firefly has utility beyond Amazon shopping: aim it at your TV and it can provide info for TV shows and movies, much like Amazon's X-Ray feature, courtesy of IMDB, which Amazon owns.
by MobileTechReview (Jul, 2014)

Operating system

The OS is smooth and pleasant to use, and it's clearly geared more toward iPhone converts than Android users who truly adore Android and make great use of its features and services.
by MobileTechReview (Jul, 2014)
The UI is simple with HDR on/off, flash control, burst mode and access to the photo gallery, but the image processing software, much as with the iPhone, makes for wonderful photos that are a bit warm, nicely saturated, sharp and natural looking.
by MobileTechReview (Jul, 2014)
That said, Amazon's camera software is pretty basic.
