Apple Just Spent $40M Because Google Now Is Killing Siri

Matthew Panzarino over at TechCrunch noted Apple’s $40m acquisition of smart-assistant company Cue as an attempt to bolster Siri to be more competitive with Google Now.

Apple is likely to use the acquisition, or its talent, to bolster the offerings of its Today section with additional signals curated from email, social networks and more.

This is stuff that Google Now does really well, and which Apple only skims the surface of. Siri may have more personality, but Google has more muscle.
